Code of Conduct

The Board of Trustees believes that Library patrons have the right to use the Library materials and services without being disturbed or impeded by other library users. That Library patrons and employees have a right to an environment that is secure and comfortable, and that Library patrons and employees have a right to materials that are available and in good condition. Any conduct that disturbs Library users or staff, or that hinders others from using the library or Library materials is prohibited. The Library’s established “Library Rules of Conduct” must be followed during all visits to the Library. Anyone known to have violated any one rule may be excluded from the library and/or their library privileges revoked.

Mission Statement

To be a center of learning by providing resources, technology, and gathering spaces to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Interlibrary Loan

An Interlibrary is a transaction in which one library can request materials from another library. The purpose of Interlibrary Loan is to meet the needs of patrons who request material that is not owned by their own library. Usually materials are requested from libraries within our library system. The Schiller Park Library will provide Interlibrary Loan for current Schiller Park Public Library cardholders, limiting requests to 15 per patron. The patron is responsible for any materials damaged or lost.

Loan Periods

The maximum number of items loaned at one time is 25 items per library card, but no more than 10 DVDs/CDs, of which 5 may be New.

*Certain library materials are eligible for renewal as long as there is no hold on the item, and as long as the patron is in good standing and does not owe any fees.

The Schiller Park Library is now fine free! For further details please visit: https://schillerparklibrary.org/finefree/
