Library Building Closed

Due to the rapid rise in cases of COVID-19 and recent stay-at-home advisories, the Schiller Park Public Library will close our building to the public beginning Monday, November 23 until further notice.

The library will continue to offer Curbside Pickup Services and Virtual Library Programming.

Curbside Pickup

Monday – Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Request Materials: Request items by phone at 847-678-0433, online via the SWAN Online Catalog, Swan Libraries App, or by email at

Wait for Notification: Once items are ready for pickup you will receive an email or call stating your materials are ready. Please do not arrive at the library until you receive notice.

Pick Up Materials: By Car – Pull into one of the two designated curbside pickup parking spots. Notify staff you have arrived by phone 847-678-0433.

**Patrons must open their trunk and remain in the car with the windows closed and close their trunk upon staff delivery of the materials.**

By bike or foot – Notify staff you have arrived by phone 847-678-0433. Staff will leave the items in the designated pickup spot. Retrieve your items after the staff member returns inside the library.

 **Mask is required. For the protection of the staff and patrons, please do not approach staff members when they drop off your items.**

Items will be held for pickup for 7 days.

Certain items will not be available for pickup i.e., STEAM Kits, Games, Magazines.

Virtual Programs

All in-house programs and events are cancelled until further notice. The library will continue offering programs virtually. Please visit the library’s website, Facebook, or Instagram for weekly program offerings.


Self-service computer use is available for Schiller Park Residents ONLY, STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Call for availability to schedule a 50-minute timeslot, limit ONE timeslot per day. No exceptions or extended appointments will be permitted. Reservations are first come, first serve and may be scheduled up to one week in advance. Patrons over age two will be required to wear a mask that covers both nose and mouth while in the building. If you do not have one, a disposable mask will be provided.

Public Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is accessible from the library parking lot from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. No password is required, simply select SPSPublic for access. Please remember to maintain safe social distancing.

Materials Return

The outdoor book drop located in the main parking lot is open 24/7. Loan periods and due dates will remain active. No material returns will be accepted through curbside pickup; patrons will have to return their items in the outdoor book drop only.

Digital Resources

The library’s digital resources are available 24/7. Visit our website and select eBooks and More to browse our downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and education resources.

Don’t have a library card? Schiller Park residents age 13 or older can register for a temporary online-only library card which will grant access to our digital resources such as eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and digital resources. Sign up and start exploring today!

Library cards expiring November 2020 – February 2021 have been extended through March 2021.

Book Donations

At this time, the library is not accepting any book donations. Please hold onto book donations until the library resumes full services.

The safety and well-being of our patrons and staff is our highest priority. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to safely reopening when we are able to do so.

  • •Library staff will follow the recommendations of public health officials, wearing masks, practicing social distancing and avoiding direct contact with the public.

  • •Staff will not answer face to face inquiries or accept returned materials during the curbside pickup transaction. Patrons will have to return their items in the outdoor book drop.

  • • Staff and patrons have limited contact during Curbside Pickup.

  • •All items requested for Curbside Pickup will be checked out and bagged immediately handled with gloves and masks in order to minimize staff contact with items.

  • • All item returns are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours before being checked in which means library materials will stay on the patrons’ account for approximately 3 days.

  • • Staff will report to work only if they and family members are healthy.

  • • Limited staff members are allowed in the building at the same time.

  • • PPE is provided for staff members. All staff are encouraged to wash their hands frequently.

  • • Workspaces are regularly cleaned with sanitizer.
