The Schiller Park Historical Commission and Schiller Park Public library will be hosting a fun hands-on excavation program on Saturday, September 15th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Children will have a brief introduction to archaeological digging and discover the historical secrets that lie below our feet! Participants will register for 20 minute dig sessions.
Registration begins August 18th.
The Schiller Park Public Library is excited to announce our NEW Collection of circulating STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Kits!
Each kit includes information and hands-on activities to experiment and explore STEM concepts at home. Available for check-out Fall 2018!
The kits are made possible through a generous grant from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)-Chicago Section.
If you are 5 years of age and can print your name, come in and get your first library card. But don’t forget your legal guardian! Adult patrons (18 years and older) must apply in person and provide two pieces of legal identification with the applicant’s name and Schiller Park address. Both pieces of identification must have identical Schiller Park addresses. Each new library card applicant will receive a small gift. Visit the library for more information. Read like a rock star at the library this summer and participate in this year’s Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock”. Registration begins on June 4th during and following our Ice-Cream Social at 4:30 p.m. The Children’s summer Reading Program is open to ages Newborn-8th Grade! There will be weekly prizes, programs, and even a celebration party for those who complete the program! Further information on the Summer Reading Program will be given out to participants at the time of registration.

Join the Schiller Park Historical Commission for the 200th Anniversary of Illinois with a viewing of, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, on Saturday, July 14th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Enjoy the story of our 16th president, Abe Lincoln, from his humble beginnings, his backwoods childhood, and his first romance with Ann Rutledge. His wife, Mary Todd Lincoln’s vision of Abe’s leadership during his trying times. Movie is shown in black and white, starring Raymond Massey.
